The upcoming open day will be the seventh edition of a public visitor programme, reflecting growing public interest in one of Hungary’s most important historic and political landmarks.

The initiative offers a rare opportunity to step inside the palace’s elegant ceremonial rooms, beautifully restored in the refined Early Classicist style, while uncovering fascinating stories from more than 200 years of history.

Perched on Szent György Square beside Buda Castle, Sándor Palace was built between 1803 and 1806 for the distinguished Sándor family. Over the centuries, it has witnessed some of the most significant chapters of Hungarian history. The building later served as the residence of several Hungarian prime ministers before being devastated during World War II. Following a meticulous reconstruction completed in the early 2000s, it was designated the official residence and workplace of the President of Hungary in 2003.

During the guided tours, visitors will have the chance to explore the palace’s richly adorned state rooms, historic interiors and remarkable artworks, while hearing captivating anecdotes and lesser-known stories that illuminate Hungary’s political and cultural heritage.

The programme has proved exceptionally popular, with places for previous open days filling rapidly after registration opened.

Applications for the guided tours can be submitted through the palace’s official website. Successful applicants will be selected by lottery, and participation is free of charge.
