Located next to the Danube Promenade, the Vigadó is once again an unmissable attraction in Budapest. It provides a venue for exhibitions, concerts, theatrical events, and films. The Panorama Terrace, on its sixth floor, overlooks the Danube and offers a unique view of the Buda Castle and the Citadel.
Pesti Vigado is a fantastic building that is more than 150 years old and full of history. It is where Budapest was born in 1873, where emperor Franz Joseph’s coronation banquette was held in 1867, and where highly acclaimed concerts took place by outstanding musicians, including Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, and Claude Debussy. The building suffered such severe damage during World War II that it was only reopened to the public in 1980.
The Pesti Vigadó welcomes those interested in its beautiful interiors, history, and panorama at pre-announced times. Visitors can tour the entire historic building accompanied by our qualified guides, see its impressive stylistic features and hidden treasures, get acquainted with the work of the architects and artists who shaped this special place, and discover how the building's role has changed over the centuries.
This year, on the 10th of May, the XII. Open House event will welcome visitors with a 1920s Swing atmosphere all day. There will be concerts, dance houses, architectural tours, children's craft workshops, adult workshops, and a craft fair among the various programs. The temporary exhibitions (Essentia Artis, Zoltán Gosztonyi's exhibition, the Kós András sculpture exhibition, and László József Molnár's painting exhibition), as well as the permanent exhibition (The Pesti Vigadó Timeline), will be open to the public free of charge on the event day.
Except for the grand evening concert, all events are free of charge, though some programs, including the architectural tours, may require a ticket at no cost.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience history up close within the magical walls of the Pesti Vigadó!
