The Badacsony Harvest is one of the most beautiful traditions in the region. The first televised Badacsony Harvest took place in 1964, and since then, the town has valued the celebration of the hard work of local vintners.
The harvest season is a festive occasion for everyone in Badacsony. For many years, the youth of Badacsony have organized parade-style harvest celebrations, with the highlight being a dance party held in barns and taverns decorated with grapes. Over the decades, the Badacsony Harvest has gained significant recognition. The event has seen continuous expansion in its programming, and attendance has consistently increased.
Today, it stands as a successful attraction with deep-rooted traditions. The centerpiece of the harvest cultural program is the harvest parade, which is the longest harvest procession in the country, featuring several hundred marchers.
Participants include wine producers from across the country, delegations from nearby towns, civil organizations, residents from Badacsonytomaj, local entrepreneurs, and wineries in the area. The parade also showcases invited folk dance groups, horse-drawn carriages, flag twirlers, stilt walkers, traditional associations, and many other performers.
The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 14th, starting from Kert Street in Badacsonytomaj. It will proceed along Highway 71, connecting Badacsonytomaj to Badacsony.
The colorful procession will feature representatives from surrounding settlements, folk dance groups, legionnaires, wine orders, lancers, hussars, flag twirlers, fire jugglers, horse-drawn carriages, and brass bands.
This event is the most impressive autumn festival in the wine region and serves as a fitting conclusion to the tourist season. Guests at the Badacsony Harvest can taste the distinctive wines produced by local winemakers and enjoy the longest harvest parade in the country.
The event will take place at Badacsony Park.
